The architecture of the houses and downtown buildings remind us of the town’s history as Red Wing was a transportation hub via rail and water in the late 1890s. A strategic location in the Midwest provided various jobs (the development of the Red Wing Pottery), new means of entertainment, and most importantly, cultural diversity. The various museums offer educational opportunities to help fulfill your curiosity. Memorials and land markers are located throughout the town within city parks and atop bluffs. Visit one, or all 6 of the museums, take time to visit Prairie Island Indian community or merely walk/bike the Cannon Valley Trail to further your education and appreciate all that Red Wing has to offer.
