Day # 1
Theme: A sweet itinerary to entertain and guide you to romance
Arrive & Check-in to your sweet at one of our lodging facilities or reserve well in advance an elegant room at the St. James Hotel. Consider requesting a room with a river view or a whirlpool tub for an extra touch.
Scenic views at Barn Bluff, take a short drive or an invigorating walk to the Barn Bluff (He Mni Can) park entrance. Just a short distance from the downtown corridor. Hike to the summit (only accessible on foot) for the most breathtaking views of the city, the Mississippi River, and the surrounding bluffs—a perfect spot for photos and a moment together.
Wine & Chocolate Indulgence visit Red Wing Confectionery to select a special piece of artisan chocolate, stop in to Riverbend Floral to arrange a beautiful bouquet and then West End Liquor to shop the extensive variety of wines. Take your shopping selections back to your room to enjoy.
Romantic Dinner at The Scarlet Kitchen and Bar. Reserve a secluded booth for a quiet, Intimate meal, candlelit options upon request. End your evening with a delicious dessert for two. (Reservations are essential).
Sunsets and more Scenic views at Memorial Park, take a short drive to the entrance of Memorial Park on E 7th Street. The winding road will lead you to the top of Sorin’s Bluff. Once at the top of the Bluff, you will be presented with panoramic views of Red Wing and the river valley. Grab a seat on one of the limestone benches to patiently wait for a beautiful sunset. The park entrance is open to vehicles approximately end of May – November. The park remains open for hiking and other activities even when the road is closed.
A night cap at one of the historic bars. Visit The Port (located in the St. James Hotel on the lower level) to delight in a classic craft cocktail. The cozy setting offers light plates and a variety of traditional and cozy seating..
Day # 2
Theme: A sweet romantic getaway
Leisure Breakfast/Brunch, start the day with breakfast at Mandy’s Coffee & Cafe. The welcoming atmosphere offers an extensive hot and cold drink menu, select breakfast items and comfy seating options. For a more hearty breakfast, consider Liberty’s Restaurant & Lounge.
Schedule special treatments. Pre-book services at Salon With a Twist (S.W.A.T) , Indigo Salon & Spa or River Blu Salon and DaySpa. Opt for a 60-minute therapeutic massage, a luxurious facial, or relax in a Salt Room together. Relax and unwind together with some spa time (reservations required)
Stroll/Walk hand-in-hand through historic downtown Red Wing. Browse the unique boutiques for gifts, art and apparel. Visit the Train Depot to browse the Red Wing Arts Gift Shop for locally made jewelry, felt art, stainglass, knit items and more.
A Toast to History For a quick and unique stop, visit the Pottery Museum of Red Wing (in the West End District). You will be enlightened with the local history on this self guided tour. Shop the gift shop for donated pieces some dating as far back as 1930. Souvenirs, apparel, posters and books for sale too.
A Sweet send Off –Stop for a quick ice cream cone, coffee, or a baked treat at a local spot like Hanisch Bakery (a Red Wing classic) to cap off your visit..
