Day # 1   

 Theme: A bucket of balls, scenic views, bonding and brisket

Arrive & Tee off at one of Red Wing’s Golf Courses: Drive a few minutes outside of the downtown area to Mississippi National Golf Links or Mount Frontenac Golf Course for some phenomenal scenic views overlooking the Mississippi River Valley. Stay in town to explore the Red Wing Golf Course, conveniently located off 6th Street. Pick up some new balls, a hat or even some clubs at the pro-shop, and finish up at the Nineteen Bar & Grill.  Play 1 or all 3 courses for a memorable round. (Book tee times in advance!)

Casual Lunch after a game. Depending on your Tee Time,  grab a quick lunch at Godfather’s Pizza. The pizza buffet runs 11:30-1:00 and does not disappoint.

Check-in at your Hotel roomHoliday Inn or Country Inn and Suites recommended for this guys gathering.

Acquire a few cigars.  Head to West End Liquor (Old West Main) to visit an elite humidor. Or visit Adam’s Tobacco Shop (301 Main Street) to stock up on cigars for the weekend.

Kick back and relax (Chill Outdoors) with your first cigar of the trip. Grab a bench along the riverfront walkway in Levee Park or Bay Point park, or enjoy the terrace/patio at the hotel you are staying at.

Day # 2

Theme: History, Culture and Hiking

Leisure Breakfast: Enjoy the continental breakfast at the hotel or head out for a hearty breakfast at Liberty’s Restaurant & Lounge or Kelly’s Taphouse.

History and Hiking boots: Visit the Red Wing Shoe Store & Museum to see the World’s Largest Boot and pick up some new leather goods, hiking boots may be handy before tackling the Barn Bluff climb.

Warmer, or cooler clothes: Outdoor apparel on Main St. Conveniently next door to the Red Wing Shoe Flagship Store is Duluth Trading Company. Not only do they have the regular in season line of apparel , shoes, under-garments and accessories, they have the bargain basement. Be sure to take some time to explore the lower level.

Barn Bluff-He Mni Can: venture to the top of a well-known bluff for the ultimate scenic views of Red Wing and the river valley

Grab a pick-me-up at Hanisch Bakery and Coffee Shop. Sweet treats line an entire wall making it hard to resist a cookie or two. Browse the retail space for other baked goods, apparel and coffee & ice cream on the cafe side.

Hit the range at Mississippi National Golf Links. Hit a bucket of balls or better yet, It’s okay if you want to get in one final round before heading out.

Celebration Dinner at Bayside Tap & Steakhouse. Enjoy a traditional steak or choose other hearty options off the menu (call ahead if larger group). 

Wrap up the afternoon with a craft cocktail at one of Minnesota’s Oldest bars, the Red Wing Barrel House. Live entertainment often on weekends.

  • Smoking Areas indoor smoking is restricted in Minnesota. Plan to enjoy your cigars outdoors (hotel patios, balconies, or public spaces like the riverfront).
  • Tee Times Red Wing is a popular spot for golf, book tee times as soon as possible.
  • The Smokin’ Oak Rotisserie & Grill (4243 U.S. 61) shares the parking lot with the Country Inn & Suites making this dining location very convenient
  • Bayside Tap & Steakhouse is a smaller establishment. If planning to visit during prime dinner hours, calling ahead to secure a table would be helpful
  • Barn Bluff-He Mni Can one of the best known features along the Mississippi river is only accessible on foot. This hike may take you about 1.5 hours at a moderate pace to climb to the summit and return to the parking area
