Voices of the Valley: Theodore Roosevelt Camp | Cannon Valley Trail
Jul 27 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm
On Saturday, July 27, come to the Welch Access Station of the Cannon Valley Trail for Voices of the Valley! Grab pie samples from Stockholm Pie’s Pie Plate Cafe & Coffee to enjoy after meeting Theodore Roosevelt in his camp. The appearance of Mr. Roosevelt was made possible with contributions from Xcel Energy, the Red Wing Shoe Company, and the Goodhue County Cooperative Electric Operation Round-Up program.
It was the efforts of our 26th President, Theodore Roosevelt, that gave our leadership and people an impetus to save our natural places for enjoyment and recreation. Join Mr Roosevelt on the Cannon Valley Trail in his camp, where he will share with us his stories and legacy in his exploration camp. Bring the whole family and experience traveling back in time in camp, an 1880 wall tent filled with Roosevelt artifacts, hunting equipment, animal skins and much more. He will regale us with his stories of his work on saving our wild places for the future generations, his meetings with John Muir and others who shaped our national commitment to the environment. He’ll share stories of the White House Gang, the children of the Executive Mansion who roller skated the hallways and modified the Presidential portraits to their own amusement.
Theodore Roosevelt camp is a national treasure and presented by Adam Lindquist as Roosevelt, a 3 time national champion living history performer. You will have felt you met the real man.
Voices of the Valley is an interpretive program planned to assist a visitor’s exploration and understanding of the Cannon River Valley. For more information on the Cannon Valley Trail, visit our website www.cannonvalleytrail.com.
