Tea & Stitching: Boro Coasters | Goodhue County Historical Society
May 2, 2019 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
$5
Traditional Japanese Boro cloths were created out of necessity with multiple patches layered one atop the other and carefully sewn on and reinforced with stitching to extend the life of a garment or household textile. While enjoying a cup of Japanese tea, we’ll use Boro techniques with contemporary fabrics to stitch two pieces that can be made into coasters or for use as decorative or necessary patches. No experience is necessary. $5 material fee will be payable to the instructor at class. Those registered for this class will receive free admission to view the instructor’s exhibit, “Charcoal & Persimmon: A Textile Travelogue,” the day of class and before class begins at the Goodhue County History Center. This class is co-sponsored by Red Wing Community Education and the Goodhue County History Center (GCHC), 1166 Oak Street, Red Wing.
Bring to Class: $5 material fee
Space is limited
