Haenyeo: Opening Reception | The Sheldon Theatre
Mar 22 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm
Haenyeo means the job of women that have a thousand year long history in Jeju Island, the largest island in Korea where Jae-Yi Kim lived before her move to the United States. The women dive into the deep open ocean and collect seafood. When Jae-Yi Kim first arrived in America, she felt like she became a Haenyeo who dove into the unknown world of America. Jae-Yi Kim’s paintings present the beauty of Jeju Island where she lived and Red Wing, MN where she currently resides.
Join us for a free opening reception from 5-630 held on the Mezzanine level at the Sheldon Theatre of Performing Arts prior to the Phoenix Theatres performance of “The Norwegians”. We will have light appetizers from Oliver’s Wine Bar and a cash bar available.
